Dr. Drew Birka 


Dr. Drew Birka began his academic journey at the University of Western Ontario (UWO) where he earned his Honours Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in kinesiology. During his time at the UWO, he was highly involved in the school’s injury prevention and rehabilitation programs. As a result, he was awarded the Dean’s Honour Award in Sociology. He left the UWO to further his education and passion for health and well-being which brought him to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC).

At the CMCC, Dr. Birka obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.  During those four years of study, he also became certified in both Traditional Chinese and Medical Acupuncture from the Acupuncture Council of Ontario and was trained in both the Graston Technique and Activator Methods. Dr. Birka has a strong belief in life-long education and continues to expand his clinical skills through manual therapy and rehabilitative courses and seminars.

Dr. Birka practices an evidence-based diversified model of care. He works to create a custom treatment and rehabilitation plan for every patient; individualizing the plans to suit each person’s condition, needs, and functional abilities. He strives to not only provide top quality care helping individuals reach their optimal level of function, but also to educate individuals so that they may take an active role in their health, well-being, and performance goals.

Dr. Tomasz Kowal 


Dr. Kowal graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with Honours. Shortly thereafter, he obtained a Master of Science from York University where his research focused on Cardiovascular Rehabilitation. Dr. Kowal continued his educational journey at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) where he obtained a Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

During his studies at CMCC, Dr. Kowal worked diligently and published his master’s thesis in an academic journal, which earned him the A. Earl Homewood Memorial Award. Dr. Kowal is certified in Functional Integrated Acupuncture, he is also an Emergency First Responder. He has a strong background in functional movement assessment and training through various courses. While an intern at CMCC, Dr. Kowal traveled to rural communities in the Dominican Republic to provide chiropractic care. His passion for learning and continuing education drives him to advance his skills and knowledge to further benefit his patients.

Dr. Kowal grew up in Toronto where he actively participated in volleyball, rugby, mountain biking and competitive swimming. Recently, Dr. Kowal started to play hockey. He strives to stay active, which is what he endorses to his patients. Dr. Kowal practices an evidence-based diversified model of care, where he takes the time to create custom treatment for every patient. Dr. Kowal believes that educating his patients in understanding their health concerns, and having them take an active role in their overall well being, is fundamental to reaching their personal goals.

Irina Khazanovsky

Irina graduated with a diploma in massage therapy and started her clinical career in December of 2010. Since that time, Irina has had an opportunity gain experience in a variety clinical settings and countries. She has honed her skills by working in athletic rehabilitation clinics, premier Ontario spas, training couples on massage techniques, and in chiropractic and wellness centers treating a wide range of conditions.

Along with traditional Swedish massage techniques, Irina has studied and utilizes many treatment techniques including myofascial release therapy, trigger point therapy, prenatal, postnatal, infant massage, and craniosacral techniques.

Irina has also taken a special interest and trained in combined decongestive therapy and integrated lymphatic drainage techniques. These techniques allow her to treat post-operative and post-traumatic swelling, treat breast cancer patients/survivors, varicose veins, and diabetic swelling. Also, due to its gentle nature, this type of lymphatic massage allows Irina to incorporate massage into programs of care for fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome.
